Grace Church of Cochrane was planted in 2019 with the aim of joyfully making much of Christ in all of life for the good of Cochrane and the glory of God. For several years, there had been a growing desire and ongoing discussions about planting a church in Cochrane, one of Canada’s fastest-growing towns. On April 21, 2019—Resurrection Sunday—several members gathered in a small room at Calvary Grace Church in Calgary and covenanted together to stand and strive side by side for the faith of the gospel. By God's grace, the church continues to do so today.
With the support of Calvary Grace Church, our sending church and ongoing partner, Pastor Jeff Jones served as Grace Church’s first Lead Pastor. By the grace of God, the church held together through the trials of the global COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, Jeff and his family were called to New Brunswick to begin a new ministry. In 2023, the church called Pastor Josh Kary to serve as Lead Pastor.
Since 2019, we have experienced seasons of encouragement and growth, as well as trials of various kinds. Through it all, we have tasted and seen that the LORD is good, and that his steadfast love endures forever (Psalm 136:1). The members of the body continue to use their gifts to build up the body. We praise God for his faithful mercies to us.
With expectant hearts, we trust that God is just beginning to write our story. We look forward to seeing how he will continue to use Grace Church as a beacon of truth, joy, and grace in Cochrane and beyond—even to the ends of the earth. Our eager ambition is that, “as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God” (2 Corinthians 4:15).
