This month, we have chosen "Only a Holy God" by City Alight as our song of the month for February. We are already familiar with City Alight at Grace as we currently sing two of their songs on a regular basis ("Yet Not I But Through Christ in Me," and "Grace").

In an interview concerning the song, members of City Alight discussed "Only a Holy God" as the song that all of the other songs on their album pointed to as it answers the question, who else? In more detailed discussions regarding the song, one member described the song as climaxing in the fourth verse. He said, "We sing about His splendour, His might and His majesty, and then we sing about His tender heart to come and save us... and then we ask, who else would do this?" Of course the answer is found in the name of the song, "Only a Holy God." 

You'll also notice that the song is structured in a question and answer format. One where the answer is always the same but where the questions reveal more about God's character and purposes. To illustrate, here is a look at the above mentioned verse four as an example:

Who else could rescue me from my failing
Who else would offer His only Son
Who else invites me to call Him Father
Only a Holy God

We worship a God who has, for our good and His glory, commanded us to worship Him. However, we worship Him not just because He has commanded us to. We worship Him because He has given us reason to. He alone is worthy of our praise, adoration, and worship.
