Ready to Launch!

We're thrilled to report that, aside from a couple minor hiccups, our first two "rehearsal" services on March 31 and April 7 went very well! Here's a look at what happened.

Setup

Preparations began well before arrival on Sunday morning. Bulletins had to be designed and printed, along with information pamphlets and kids' activity pages.

Almost everyone arrived bright and early both mornings at 9:30 AM. Chairs had to be set up, along with a couple of stage blocks and our lectern/pulpit.

Stickers, like those we use at Calvary Grace, needed to be put in our hymnals and Bibles.

Tables needed to be set up with bulletins and pamphlets and coloring pages and kids' sermon notes clipboards.

And, of course, we needed a piano moved, so naturally we left that small job to the kids...

Many hands make light work, and all the seating, the piano and pulpit, and the resource tables were set up very quickly--on the 31st, it took only seven minutes.

Services

The order of service and the songs would be familiar to anyone who's attended Calvary Grace for any length of time (though singing out of hymnbooks is a bit of a change!)

Not everything went perfectly according to plan--the hall's piano was just slightly out of tune, the cordless microphones died halfway through the first week's service, and the little device that was supposed to be recording the sermons still needs to be figured out. But the Word of God went forth: Jeff Jones preached from Acts 10 on the 31st, and Andrew Davis from Genesis 22 on the 7th. We prayed for Calvary Grace, for Cochrane, and for other churches. And we sang loud!

We don't have a separate space for our "nursery," but we certainly have a lot of helpers...

BACK HOME FOR ONE WEEK

And with those services under our belt, we're back to Calvary Grace this Sunday for our commissioning service and our inaugural business meeting, where we will officially form Grace Church.
